What is THCv?
THCv, a unique cannabinoid
THCV is a naturally occurring analog of THC. Unlike THC, which is psychoactive and an agonist at the CB1 and CB2 receptors, THCV is a non-psychoactive, neutral CB1 antagonist / reverse agonist and may act as agonist or antagonist at the CB2 receptors depending on its dose. It is thought that THCV prevents the psychological effects of THC.
What does all this mean???
What is THCv?
- Think of THCv as a cousin to the regular THC (what gets you high in marijuana) and CBD (the calming stuff). It's like crossing both together!
- It's natural and comes from special types of marijuana plants, mainly from Africa, although most forms purchased online are synthesized from CBD.
- Yes, it can give you a little "buzz", but not as strong as regular weed.
Why is THCv Special?
- It's Mild: It gives a light and happy feeling without making you too anxious or paranoid.
- Balancing: Many people report that THCv actually reduces some of the effects of regular delta-9 THC.
- Health Perks:
- Might help you eat less if you're trying to lose weight, research is still inconclusive.
- Could be good for people with type-2 diabetes, research is underway.
- Can calm anxiety and nerves and reduce stress levels
- May reduce anxiety attacks in people that suffer from PTSD.
- Might provide neuroprotection, helping with diseases like Alzheimer’s.
Is THCv Safe?
- From what we know, yes! However, we know very little about THCv and what the side effects might be, especially with long-term use. Always with a little and see how you feel. It seems to be gentler than regular THC.
- If you are experiencing symptoms of any disease or injury or condition, discuss it with your doctor first. Self medicating should never be your first option! Remember that none of the products on this web site are approved for the treatment of any disease or medical condition.
- There are efforts to test for THC by actually testing for THCv so that the "Marinol" big-pharma drug (synthetic d9-THC for nausea) doesn't trigger a drug-test (but the relatively harmless THCv will).
